These settings control how a random pool makes selections. You set them when you create a pool; automatic DOT pools use the defaults from your random service setup.

DOT Regulated Pool

Whether the pool is for DOT-required testing. If your company has only DOT or only non-DOT employees, this is set for you. Med-Stop does not allow a second active DOT pool for the same test type.

Target Percentage

The share of the average number of pool members that must be selected for testing over the year. For example, a pool averaging 100 members with a 25% target needs 25 selections in the year. For DOT pools, the target must be at least the DOT agency's minimum rate for that year; you can set it higher. DOT random testing rates

Selection Frequency

How often selections are made, such as quarterly or monthly. For DOT pools, use quarterly or more often. Shorter periods recalculate the average member count more often and keep testing spread through the year.

Earliest and Latest Selection Date

The earliest date is when selections start; the pool is not recalculated before it. The latest date is the last day a selection can fall on; by default the end of the year. For DOT pools, do not move it much earlier, because it affects the average member count.

Skip selections before the pool start

For DOT pools that start mid-year: Yes reduces the target in proportion to the skipped periods; No keeps the full-year target. Start random testing partway through the year

Members

The employment statuses (non-DOT pools only) and categories included in the pool. DOT pools include all safety-sensitive employees. For example, you can leave out owner-operators who are tested through another consortium from a non-DOT pool.

Selection options

• Multiple selections of the same Member possible: whether one member can be selected more than once in a period.
• Create Alcohol Selections in the same time as Drug if possible: for alcohol pools, schedules a member's alcohol test with their drug test when both are selected.
• Additional Selections per Period: extra selections above the number needed for the target.
