Med-Stop generates random selections for each pool within a selection period, such as a quarter or a month. Pool data is recalculated every day, so the number of selections keeps up with changes in pool size.

1. Update pool statistics

Completed selections and tests are counted, the average number of pool members is recalculated, and the current pool percentage is updated.

2. Calculate the required selections

The annual target percentage is spread evenly over the year. For example, with quarterly periods, each quarter carries one quarter of the annual target. The number of selections for the period is based on that share and the current average number of members.

3. Check open and completed selections

All required selections are created at the start of the period. If the average pool size grows during the period, more selections are added.

Important: a selection must be completed within its own period. An open selection from an earlier period does not count toward the current target, even if the employee is tested later. The procedure creates new selections to replace those not completed.

4. Reserve selections

Reserve (alternate) selections are created as backups, at 10% of the required selections and no more than 5 in total. They are dated on the last day of the period and are used only to replace a canceled selection, for example when a selected employee is terminated. When you activate a reserve selection, you can choose any date within the current period.

5. Create the selections

• Random date: chosen between the period start and end dates. Dates usually fall at least five days after the period starts, to leave time to schedule and notify employees.
• Random member: chosen from system-generated member IDs, so every member has an equal chance.
• Recording: each selection is logged with the pool service, date, and member, and later with its outcome.
