The Med-Stop Random Selection Service runs your company's random drug and alcohol testing program inside the employer app. It keeps the pools, the selections, the resulting test requests and tests, and the reports in one place, so you do not maintain a separate employee list for a TPA or consortium.

What random testing is

Random testing selects employees for unannounced drug or alcohol tests by chance, so every covered employee has an equal chance of being selected each time. DOT-regulated employers must run random testing under their DOT agency rules (for motor carriers, 49 CFR 382.305). Non-DOT employers can run random testing under their own drug-free workplace policy.

What the service does for you

• Pools: creates DOT pools automatically each year if you choose, or lets you create your own DOT and non-DOT pools.
• Membership: can keep pool members synchronized with your employee list, based on DOT status and employment status.
• Selections: generates random selections for each selection period and recalculates pool statistics daily as membership changes.
• Follow-through: lets you create a test request or record a test from each selection, and closes the selection when the test is recorded.
• Reports: shows current and target percentages and provides pool, member, and selection reports for audits.

What your company still does

Your company remains responsible for its testing program: keeping employee records and DOT status accurate, notifying selected employees, sending them for testing promptly, and documenting any selection that cannot be completed.
