If your company is DOT-regulated and employs only one person—if you are the owner-operator—you are still required to comply with DOT regulations regarding random drug and alcohol testing.
According to DOT regulations 49 C.F.R. § 382.103, a DOT-regulated employer who employs only himself or herself as a driver must implement an alcohol and controlled substances testing program that includes more individuals than just the owner-operator in the random testing pool.
Therefore, an owner-operator must join a consortium.
Med-Stop Random Service is not a consortium-type service. Our service is designed as a one-employer random testing program, and we do not place single-person employers into larger pools.
Please be advised that you should not use the Med-Stop Random Service if your company is a one-person operation.
