Post-accident test requests and tests

When a post-accident test is required, order it immediately and link it to the accident record so the test and the event stay together.
Order the test
- When you finish a new accident record, keep Show additional Tasks on Finish set to Yes and choose the new test request task, or
- On the Accidents list, select New Test Request.
- Complete the test request for the employee and send them for testing.
Review linked tests
Open the accident and select Tests to see all related test requests and tests. Select one to open it.
DOT time limits (FMCSA)
Under 49 CFR 382.303, tests must be done as soon as practicable. If an alcohol test is not given within 2 hours, the employer must document why, and attempts stop after 8 hours. Drug tests must be done within 32 hours. The driver must remain available for testing, but testing must not delay necessary medical care or stop a driver from leaving the scene to get help.
