Understand test request status
Last Updated: 09/24/2026
A request's status shows where the order stands. It is separate from the test result: a completed request only means the test was performed.
Common statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Open | The test is ordered and has not been completed or closed. |
| Completed | The test was performed and linked to a test record. |
| No Show | The employee did not go to the test. A remark is required. |
| Refusal | The employee refused the test, as defined by the DOT rules for DOT tests. |
| Canceled | The request was withdrawn and no test is expected. |
The exact list shown in your account can differ.
How requests close
- Tests done at Med-Stop or electronically connected sites complete the request automatically.
- If your company turns on Automatically Close Test Requests in Company settings, a matching recorded test can close the open request.
- Otherwise, close the request yourself with Change Status.
Review the status history on the request's Status tab before you change anything.
