Many Med-Stop fields format and check what you type so that records stay consistent. This guide explains how to enter data in the most common special fields.

Date

• Type digits only in month, day, year order (MMDDYYYY), with leading zeros and a four-digit year. For example, 03152025 is March 15, 2025. Slashes are added for you.
• Or select the calendar icon next to the field and choose the year, month, and day.

Phone

• Enter digits only, starting with the area code. The number is formatted as a US phone number.
• The number is checked when you submit, and an error appears if it is not valid.
• If an extension (Ext.) field is available, you can enter up to 20 characters.

Social Security number (SSN)

• Enter digits only, with no letters or symbols. The number is formatted and checked as you type.
• The field is optional in most cases and is not required to identify the employee or user.
• Always check it for accuracy.

ZIP code

• The field is formatted and checked for the selected country. If no country is selected, a US address is assumed.
• Enter a 5-digit ZIP code or a 9-digit ZIP+4.
• A valid ZIP code fills in the city and state for you.

Email address

• Enter a valid address in the form name@domain.com.
• Letters are converted to lowercase, and only valid email characters are accepted.

Web address (URL)

• Enter a valid internet address without the http:// or https:// prefix.
• The address is converted to lowercase and checked.
