A company contact is a person who represents your company in Med-Stop. Contacts receive communications, can be given a Med-Stop user name to sign in, and perform the tasks their security roles allow.
Company roles
Primary Contact
The main company representative. In Med-Stop, the Primary Contact administers other users, assigns their access, and manages the company setup.
Designated Employer Representative (DER)
An employee authorized by the employer to receive test results and other communications from service agents, to take immediate action to remove employees from safety-sensitive duties, and to make required decisions in the testing and evaluation processes (49 CFR 40.3). The DER must be an employee of the company. Service agents, including Med-Stop, cannot act as your DER.
Safety Officer
The person who plans, runs, and monitors your company's safety program, including injury prevention, safety training, and safety records.
How roles work in Med-Stop
- You can have as many contacts as you need, but only one contact at a time can be the Primary Contact, the DER, or the Safety Officer.
- One person can hold more than one role.
- A DOT-regulated company must assign a DER.
- A role does not grant system access by itself. Access comes from the contact's security roles.
