The random service setup (Random > Random Service Status > Random Setup) sets the defaults for your company's random program. It notes that Med-Stop provides the software and does not act as your consortium or TPA: your company stays responsible for DOT and policy compliance.

Services

Set each service to Yes or No: random breath alcohol and random urine drug selection, DOT and non-DOT. Only the options that match your company's DOT status appear.

Agreement

When you turn a service on, you must read and agree to the Med-Stop Random Selection Service Agreement. Then print it from Random > Random Service Agreement, sign it, and upload it or fax all pages without a cover sheet as the page instructs. The agreement is valid only when signed and dated by both parties.

Target percentage and additional selections

Set the default target percentage for each service. For DOT selections, the minimum is set by DOT rules; a higher target helps you reach it by year's end if your workforce changes often. DOT random testing rates. You can also add a number of additional selections per period so the pool still meets its target if some selections cannot be completed.

Pools and frequency

• Automatically create Pools: Yes creates DOT pools at the start of each year with the DOT-required percentage. No means you create pools yourself.
• Default Selection Frequency: for DOT pools, quarterly is recommended, so that targets missed in one quarter can be made up in the next.

Selection options

• Create Alcohol Selections in the same time as Drug if possible: schedules a member's alcohol test at the same date and time as their drug test when both are selected, to save the employee's time.
• Multiple selections of the same Member possible: allows the same member to be selected more than once in a period. For DOT pools this stays Yes, so every member has an equal chance each time.

Members

Choose which employees are included: by DOT agency (if your company is regulated by more than one), employment status, and category. Employment status applies to non-DOT pools only; DOT pools include all safety-sensitive employees, and employees in the Driver category are always members.

Start date

Set the Random Selection Start Date and whether to skip selections for periods before it. If you are a new DOT-regulated company, choose Yes. To make the full year's DOT selections, choose No. Start random testing partway through the year

If a C/TPA runs your random program, you cannot change these settings yourself.
